My husband has found a few pairs of lightweight hiking pants on great sales in the past year, leaving me crazy jealous as I hike in jeans or yoga pants. As a plus size gal it is hard to find pants in stores, and buying them online is not always a pleasant experience (hassle free returns are a myth). Nevermind the idea of finding them on clearance or secondhand.
After a bit of research I decided to take the plunge and buy Columbia’s “Women’s Anytime Outdoor Boot Cut Pant” and I am so glad I did. I bought them in light grey and will be ordering them in black as well.
Lets start by saying that they FIT great. Not something that us bigger girls can usually say. They don’t pinch or sag anywhere. They look ok as well (a pair of pants can’t make me appear to be skinny). They are very lightweight and actually repel water when it rains (packed up in a downpour during our last camping trip).
They are officially my “hiking” pants but I have started wearing them regularly. I have even worn them to the office (on the casual side of business casual). They are perfect for our hot and humid Minnesota summers. They run true to size but they stretch a tiny bit and I might go down a size with my next pair. At $55 a pair they aren’t cheap, but they don’t break the bank either. I consider it a good investment.
